A law firm seeks an experienced attorney specializing in general liability and civil litigation to join their Chicago office. The candidate will handle a variety of complex liability cases, representing clients in defense against civil claims. This role requires an attorney with extensive litigation experience, a deep understanding of legal principles, and the ability to independently manage cases while working in collaboration with a dynamic legal team.Duties

Gather and analyze medical records, evidence, and other relevant documentation.Conduct depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, physicians, experts, and other parties.Perform in-depth legal research and remain current on developments in the law.Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions.Represent clients in court during hearings, trials, oral arguments, and mediations.Communicate with claims representatives regarding case developments.Investigate accidents and claims, analyzing potential legal issues.Manage litigation costs efficiently to reduce client liability.Compile and submit detailed reports to management.Attend and coordinate claims reviews with clients and insurance carriers.Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and insurers.Perform other related legal duties as required.Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active admission to the Illinois Bar.At least 5 years of experience in defending general liability and civil claims.Strong understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.Expertise in legal research, discovery, and litigation techniques.Proven ability to handle complex legal matters and meet deadlines under pressure.Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with legal software is a plus.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.Confidentiality and professionalism in managing client and firm information.Education

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications

Active Illinois Bar admission is required.Skills

Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Strong communication and negotiation abilities.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.Ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships.Location
