This person is expected to remain knowledgeable about the life science and healthcare markets and operate as a leader in coaching companies, investing, and guiding Elevate Ventures toward making strong investment decisions in these spaces.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESSource and evaluate new investment opportunities:
Constantly on the lookout for new and innovative startups to invest in by attending industry events, networking with entrepreneurs, and reviewing pitch decks. Once potential investments have been identified, this person will thoroughly analyze the company's business plan, financial performance, and market potential.Conduct preliminary due diligence on potential investments:
Once a decision is made to explore investing in a company, this person will analyze the company's business strategy, including but not limited to the marketing plan, development roadmap, and proformas to ensure their uniformity in thought and it’s realistic and appropriate for the business stage and capital raise. As well, this person will be responsible for conducting a preliminary evaluation of any science driving the business model and leverage external stakeholders to further validate business and science claims.Audit investment presentations and supporting material:
This person is also responsible for ensuring companies presenting to Elevate Ventures are well prepared to articulate the business and investment opportunity. This includes a comprehensive pitch deck and supporting key material.Support portfolio companies:
Once a company receives an investment, the VP of Life Science and Healthcare will continue to support the business by providing continued direct coaching and connections to resources. While this responsibility will primarily be managed by a post-investment team, this person will be considered a thought leader and connector to vertical-specific resources and sponsor portfolio companies through our investment process for follow-on investments.Board representation:
The VP of Life Science and Healthcare will serve as Elevate Ventures’ board representative for select companies that would benefit the greatest from this person’s expertise. It’s expected that Elevate board representatives are active contributors to board discussions and keep the Elevate Ventures Investment Committee informed through quarterly surveys and real-time feedback.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
