Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.What You’ll Do:In the Electric Propulsion Systems role you will be responsible for solving complex cross-functional issues with Archer’s Electric Engine, Propeller, and Tilt systems. You will be expected to be familiar with the technical details of each sub-system, and contribute to cross-system optimization efforts. Additionally, you will be responsible for management, execution, and delivery of specific functions and deliverables that span each sub-system. This includes: health monitoring, maintenance protocols, reliability allocation, test strategies, test planning, and test data and root cause investigations. You will work daily with technical experts across electric engine, propeller, and tilt mechanism. Additional responsibilities include:Create and populate requirementsCreate and present trade study information for cross functional leadership buy-offHolistic ownership of cross-functional deliverables, including technical program planning, interfacing with and soliciting effort from internal stakeholders and contributors, and vendor engagements as necessaryCreate test plans to ensure verification of requirementsManage cross functional interface requirementsHands-on teardown and inspection of test articlesCAD (NX) manipulation of designsWhat You Need:BS Degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, physics, or similarMinimum of 10 years of Design Engineering experienceHands on experience with hardware builds and teardownsExperience in EVTOL powertrain spaceAbility to organize and lead cross-functional effortsExperience with root cause and/or problem solving methodologies (8D, 5 whys, etc)Strong data analysis, modeling, and optimization capabilities - MATLAB preferredAbility to travel domesticallyBonus Qualifications:Experience designing fixtures, procuring parts, and assembling test setupsPlease note that this job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not include an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications.At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $164,000 - $205,000.
