Family Success Coach
Department: Tribal Family & Youth ServicesLocation: JuneauExemption Status: Non-ExemptPay Grade(s): 9 ($29.66-$38.69 DOE)Reports To: Tribal Home Visiting Manager
Purpose: The Family Success Coach will provide comprehensive support to infants, toddlers (up to age 5), pregnant mothers, and their families by offering continuous physical, emotional, and informational assistance. The role involves delivering case management services, including child development activities, and supporting families in areas such as health, nutrition, social, emotional, brain, and cultural development. This position partners with parents to create and implement positive early childhood experiences. Services are primarily provided in Tribal Citizens’ homes. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, a deep understanding of tribal culture, and the ability to work effectively with diverse families. Active listening skills, compassion, and non-judgmental support are crucial.
Essential Functions: An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:Conduct regular home visits to build rapport, assess family needs, and provide culturally responsive services.Support and provide case-management for families.Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided.Strengthen parenting skills by providing education on age-appropriate child development/growth, and positive caregiving techniques.Regularly assess for child safety and take appropriate action when there are safety concerns.Conduct parenting classes and workshops.Collaborate with program staff and community partners to provide a holistic approach to family well-being.Maintain ethical practices and uphold confidentiality standards.Actively contribute to the success of the Tribal Home Visiting Program.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:In-depth understanding of early childhood education and child development principles.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.Capacity to deescalate emotionally charged situations in a respectful and calm manner.Ability to remain composed and provide emotional support in challenging situations.Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records.Familiarity with Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures.
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):High school diploma or equivalent.Knowledge of child development.Experience in early childhood education or related field.Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):Associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood education, or a related field.Early childhood education experience.Note: Extensive training will be provided by T&H to successfully perform the duties of a Family Success Coach.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation:The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:Some travel may be required on small aircraft or ferry.Certain positions at Tlingit and Haida may have exposure to certain hazardous materials or conditions.
