This opportunity is designed for a seasoned bankruptcy attorney who excels at client acquisition and relationship building, with a substantial portable book of business. The firm also welcomes small groups that meet its billing threshold.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and develop the firm’s Bankruptcy practice, providing expert legal counsel on complex bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 11 reorganizations, creditor rights, and restructuring.Manage a client portfolio generating a minimum of $600,000 annually in portable business, while actively working to expand client relationships and business development opportunities.Represent clients, including creditors, debtors, and other stakeholders, in bankruptcy litigation, restructuring proceedings, and insolvency-related disputes.Advise businesses and financial institutions on bankruptcy strategies, risk management, and potential litigation stemming from insolvency issues.Collaborate with other departments to provide multi-faceted legal services, integrating insolvency matters with finance, litigation, and corporate restructuring.Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, overseeing their development and ensuring high-quality legal services are provided to the firm’s clients.Participate in firm-wide business development efforts, utilizing personal networks and attending industry events to attract new clients to the Bankruptcy practice.Contribute to the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect across the legal team.Requirements:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in bankruptcy and restructuring law, with a proven ability to handle complex bankruptcy cases, creditor rights disputes, and reorganizations.Demonstrated success in business development, with a portable book of business generating at least $600,000 annually.Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring legal teams in bankruptcy-related matters.In-depth knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, insolvency proceedings, and corporate restructuring strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advise and represent clients at all stages of bankruptcy proceedings.Proven track record of working effectively in a collaborative team environment, while also driving individual business growth.Education and Certifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).Certification in bankruptcy law or restructuring is an advantage but not required.Desired Skills:
Expertise in Chapter 11 reorganization and insolvency litigation, with a focus on resolving complex bankruptcy matters efficiently.Strong negotiation and litigation skills, particularly in representing both debtors and creditors in high-stakes insolvency cases.Ability to analyze financial information and develop creative strategies for restructuring and insolvency cases.Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growing and developing the firm’s Bankruptcy practice.A strong commitment to client service, delivering timely and practical legal solutions for businesses facing financial distress.Compensation and Benefits:
