DESCRIPTION:

Provides primary high quality, comprehensive out-patient medical care services to theCenter's patients under his/her panel.

SUPERVISION:

Directly supervised by the Chief Medical Officer.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires prolonged hours in meeting in-patient and out-patientmedical needs, prolonged sitting/standing and may be required to move up to 25 pounds.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Examines, diagnoses, treats, prescribes and/or refers Center patients assigned to physician's patientpanel.• Assures continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services (within the scope of trainingand ability of provider).• Maintains a problem oriented medical record for each patient seen in accordance with the Center'sestablished Medical Records Policies and Procedures.• Refers patients for appropriate special care services, lab and x-ray and any other service that is withinthe scope of the patients' well-being and services provided by the Center.• Refers patients requiring in-patient care to hospital for admission.• Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care.• Conduct telemedicine visits at health center locations or non-health center locations (from provider'shome) for registered patients of the Center.• Travels as necessary to meet Center operational needs.• As a community service provides specialized consultation services, otherwise unavailable in thecommunity and upon request, to private providers for non-registered patients.• Coordinates with other staff involved with medical treatment.• Assists in developing and implementing medical care policies and procedures to ensure compliancewith existing standards, practices and Federal regulations.• Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities of clinical staff.• Participates in the coordination of community agencies and/or resources in providing continuity ofcare.• Directs and participates in the continuing education of the medical staff.• Assists with overall coordination and administration of center health care services and activitiesincluding clinical indicators, health care plan and quality assurance.• Supervises assigned mid-level providers.• On-call access by telephone after hours and weekends• Adheres to and participates in Center's Quality Improvement/Risk Management policies whichinclude Peer Review/Credentialing.• Meets with medical staff to discuss/address issues pertinent to the overall medical center operation.• Attends P & T meetings and actively participates in the update of the Center's formulary.• Actively participates in Center's Peer Review, Credentialing Policies and Procedures.• Physician shall supervise the care provided by medical residents and students to include teachingactivities, monitoring and oversight of services provided by the medical resident or student.• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• M.D. or D.O.• Current full unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.• Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.• Must be registered and have current DEA and other such certificates to legally operate as apractitioner in the State of Texas.• Must possess current CPR course completion card level C.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bilingual English and Spanish• Board eligible/certified

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Familiar with protocols in general and a specific knowledge of the Center's current operationalprotocols.• Knowledge of basic principles of health promotion, prevention and motivation.• Possesses good organizational skills, high ethical standards, well-organized, self-directed, teamleader.• Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization.• Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries orcomplaints.• Consumer advocate for quality health care and services.• Willingness to travel.• Ability to use with Electronic Health Record system.BENEFITS:
