We are currently recruiting to fill vacancies for part-time* LABORERS in the Utilities & Public Works Departments.
Laborers assigned to the Utilities Department will be assigned tasks within the Field Utilities section.
Laborers assigned to the Public Works Department perform maintenance work in the Maintenance Division which includes: Parks, Streets, Facilities, Garage maintenance, and Central Warehouse.
All positions require candidates to be able to work with others, as well as independently, on assigned tasks and to be flexible in performing multiple tasks throughout the day. Sample job duties include, but are not limited to:
Manual tasks such as loading and unloading materials and equipment, digging and covering holes and trenchesMaintaining and repairing sewer and water lines, streets, and storm drainsOperating weed-eaters, lawnmowers, and other power toolsAssisting skilled workers in general maintenance operationsCleaning and servicing equipmentCleaning buildings and parksPerforming warehouse and courier duties making daily deliveries to City facilities
Salary Information: $20.57-$25.00/hour

*Laborer is a part-time position and paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits, and do not accrue leave time with the exception of state-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year). Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is highly desirable.
Experience:
Experience in landscape or construction maintenance is highly desirable.
License:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
Other:
