A prominent law firm based in Sherman Oaks, CA, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Writer & Strategist with a focus on complex personal injury litigation. The firm specializes in high-value catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to craft persuasive legal narratives, contribute to legal strategy, and handle high-stakes civil litigation cases.Duties
Draft and review a wide range of legal documents:
Discovery motions: motions to compel, oppositions, replies, and protective ordersSummary judgment materials: oppositions and replies for summary judgment/adjudicationEvidentiary motions: motions in limine, oppositions, and Daubert/Kelly challengesTrial documents: trial briefs, proposed jury instructions, motions for directed verdictsPost-trial motions: motions for a new trial, judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV)Appellate work: writs, appeal briefsSettlement documents: mediation briefs, mandatory settlement statements
Develop innovative legal strategies to address challenging legal precedents.Analyze complex medical and damages issues to craft persuasive legal arguments.Collaborate with the legal team to strategize on significant cases.Requirements
7+ years of experience in high-stakes civil litigation, ideally with a focus on personal injury or complex tort cases.Proven success in motions and appeals in both state and federal courts.Strong research and legal analysis skills with a deep understanding of California and federal civil procedure.Expertise in translating complex medical and scientific data into persuasive legal content.Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Law Review experience preferred.Certifications
An active member of the California State Bar in good standing.Skills
Superior legal writing skills, with a focus on crafting clear, compelling legal narratives.Advanced research capabilities using legal databases and tools.Excellent project management skills, able to juggle multiple high-priority cases under tight deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills, working effectively with attorneys, clients, and experts.
