Designer, PRPG Adult Imprints
is responsible for designing and preparing traditional and novelty book formats for our adult book publishing lists. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work with both proprietary brands and licensed properties for global distribution, including Disney, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Nightmare Before Christmas, NBC Universal, and Warner Brothers brands.What You Will Be Doing:Design a wide range of book formats including non-fiction titles.Develop and design novelty books and book-plus projects, working to make books as interactive as possible.Manage illustrators to provide the highest quality of art while following design guidelines.Manipulate brand-provided art to fit SFI and SD formats.Participate in format development once the assignment is given.Submit print specifications with the help of the supervisor.Establish creative schedules with the managing editor.Route materials through relevant reviewers and follow up with all comments.Participate in format development with senior staff with a key sense of creating formats with long-term and wide-ranging applications.Write specifications or review specs of staff for assigned formats, providing production with complete, detailed information.Establish budgets for artists and freelance designers.Find art resources for brands and non-branded titles.Work with editorial and design staff to develop content direction for formats.Oversee or create the design of the cover and content.Hire designers or illustrators to complete work as needed.Manage the non-paper component design of formats.Review, prepare, and package layout files for print production.Review printer proofs and correct electronic files as needed.Traffic all phases of format creation through relevant channels.Prepare all materials needed by the sales department or outside customers.Problem-solve any issues regarding work as it occurs or anticipate and correct.Study new brands and competitor's product for a thorough knowledge of market needs.Develop a working knowledge of production to more economically develop formats.Other duties may be assigned, directed, or requested.What You Will Need:Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is required.Minimum seven (5) to eight (8) years of experience within the publishing field is preferred.Five (5) plus years of experience managing a demand and/or fulfillment team is preferred.Experience with Adobe and other creative software systems is preferred.Strong to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred.Knowledge of preparing and posting print files is preferred.Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to speak with all levels of the organization and outside partners.Interpersonal skills - the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibitswillingness to try new things.Oral Communication - the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.Written Communication - the individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and is able to read and interpret written information.Effective communicator with the ability to partner with the management team to influence positive continuous change in Readerlink's supply chain and publishing programs.Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully, and maintains confidentiality.The work performed is in an office environment.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels.Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.Salary:
