Lead the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangementsAdvise on health and welfare benefits, including structuring and compliance for self-funded and fully insured plans, IRC §125 cafeteria plans, VEBAs, and other consumer-driven plans (FSAs, HRAs, HSAs)Provide counsel on regulatory compliance with ERISA, IRC, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, and COBRADraft, review, and negotiate benefit plan documents, policies, and contractsCollaborate with Employment and Labor team members to provide integrated client support in benefits management and risk mitigationSupport business development and client relationship-building (a portable book of business is advantageous but not required)Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience in ERISA and employee benefits lawProficiency in health and welfare benefits structuring and complianceStrong drafting, negotiation, and regulatory analysis skillsEducation
Juris Doctor (JD)
from an accredited law schoolCertifications
Licensed Attorney
in good standing in Michigan or Illinois, or eligible for admission by examination or waiverSkills
Expertise in ERISA, IRC, and employee benefits regulationsStrong analytical abilities and attention to detailProactive communication and client service skillsTeam-oriented with a collaborative mindset
