Island News (KITV/KIKU), the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, HI, is looking for a full-time Digital Content Manager. The Digital Content Manager (DCM) is primarily responsible for developing and executing new media strategies for KITV4 Island News and all its digital platforms, including web, mobile, and other content distribution platforms.
Job Responsibilities:
Improving functionality of the digital platforms on a day-to-day basis, including navigation and usability.
Daily content management, editing content, upkeep of site sections, video editing/producing, social media management, HTML coding, and web-exclusive content.
Working closely with digital producers to plan and execute daily digital content coverage, as well as set long-term digital content goals.
Teaching and coaching the news team on how to best post and promote stories on all digital platforms consistent with the goals/objectives and strategy of the newsroom.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or other related field.
At least 3 years of leading other digital journalists and developing digital strategies or relevant other newsroom experience.
Solid journalistic judgment and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
A deep understanding of SEO best practices for articles, images, and video.
Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and deal with the rapid pace of news.
Knowledge of Content Management Systems and news production systems along with social newsgathering tools.
Must be knowledgeable with AP writing style and operate with the highest journalistic standards.
Experience analyzing audience data and identifying behavioral trends; Google Analytics experience is a major bonus.
Passion and vision for emerging media.
Outstanding organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills; a team player.
Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and tasks, handling multiple assignments while meeting tight deadlines in an environment subject to constant change and interruptions.
