Job Description SummaryGE’s Grid Solutions business unit - Grid System Integration (GSI) - is involved in High Voltage Direct Current solutions, FACTS solutions, and AC & DC substation solutions, which are tailored and designed based on a project-by-project assessment of the customers' individual requirements, whether it's for connecting offshore wind generation, long distance power transmission, utility or industrial power, or energy trading between independent networks. The Engineering Operations Manager reports to the North America (NAM) GSI Engineering Leader to lead all engineering operations to deliver on Business KPIs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Serves as the single point of contact, own and be held accountable to lead Engineering related business critical initiatives, dashboards, and KPIs.
The Engineering Ops Manager is expected to self-contribute and add value while rolling up their sleeves to really get into the guts of the business operations and not merely be an expeditor of actions.
Hold operating rhythm, pacing calls on Resource/workload management, Engineering utilization, Budget Deviation, On Time Delivery (OTD), Say Do Ratio (SDR), Average Days Late performance with drill down on activities by projects on “late” drivers. Develop corrective actions as needed.
Proposes and implements an efficient reporting process to measure progress of engineering activities such as on-time delivery of documents, gate reviews, and timely responses to Customer comments.
Collaborate with Project Controls to have monthly rhythm to review workload vs capacity and work with department managers on their respective ramp up needs (Resource Management).
Collaborate with Project Management Office (PMO), Project Controls, and Finance on Engineering Utilization rate and mitigation actions for labor productivity.
Work with contract management, legal, and engineering to track and monitor state Certificate of Authorizations (COA’s) to maintain current status, filing renewals on time, and applying for state certificates (or registrations) in states where GE Grid Solution is performing the work.
Track individual Professional Engineer (P.E/P. Eng) licenses and support the progress of selected engineers in getting licensed.
Manage process for overall technical risk such as rigor on design strategy, design gate reviews, constructability reviews, design for safety, design subcontractor qualification, and design risk mitigation.
Lead all central team initiatives in collaboration with Department Managers such as Integrated Talent Management (ITM) updates & progress, Technical Experts Program (TEP), Project Engineering Manager (PEM) certification progress, and Engineering Management Handbook (EMH) updates. Support Quality ISO audit readiness as well as future Capability Maturity Model.
Be an overall champion of EMH, part of our Business Management System (BMS), process working horizontally with all project teams to drive and ensure knowledge of and compliance with EMH/BMS process rigor for engineering.
Works with Sourcing and Engineering on improving engineering subcontractor, internal & external suppliers work packages, and monitoring and documenting performance.
Work with Sourcing on subcontractor qualification process, rigor, and selection.
Works with the Quality team and project teams to support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for Engineering issues.
Works with Tendering teams to improve accuracy and quality.
Collaborate with department Managers to lead/support consolidation of various state Grid code requirements and keep the database current with all updates.
Works with Tendering teams to ensure a plan is in place for complying with P.E (Professional Engineer)/ P.Eng stamping requirement during OTR execution phase.
Works with Department heads on various database management, software, and tools integration, licenses, and future needs.
Provides complete solutions using an in-depth knowledge of best practices. Uses technical experience and LEAN expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
Makes decisions or solves complex tasks or problems in areas of technology or engineering using business-based judgement.
Inclusively uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Works to build consensus.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
Ten (10) years minimum experience in High Voltage Substations.
Minimum of 5 years of direct leadership experience managing projects, programs, initiatives.
Able and willing to travel 25% including international and comply with GE travel and tax guidelines.

The salary range for this position is 122,300.00 - 163,100.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
