Job Description: Job Family Definition: Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies, and tests High Performance Computing (HPC) NIC and/or switch firmware, diagnostics, simulators, and/or emulators for the industry leading ASIC and board designs. Directly participates in the product definition, implementation, and bring-up effort of the firmware and diagnostics with the ASIC and boards as a member of a cross-functional, multi-site team. This is a fast-paced environment that relies on strong communications skills in an Agile environment. Management Level Definition: Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others. Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise and is responsible for all stages of design, development, and test for complex products, solutions, and platforms. Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality. Provides technical expertise along with the overall architecture design and platform leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities. Provides leadership of project team of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for prototypes and products. Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members to set an example of design and development innovation and excellence. Participates in and provides input on process for selection of future technical leaders. Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the ASIC firmware, diagnostic, simulation, and emulation organization. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering or equivalent 6-10 years of experience in driver, firmware, and/or ASIC validation design, implementation, and test. Knowledge and Skills: Expert C/C++ programmer and Python in a Linux environment with at least 10 years of ASIC experience. Expert level analytical and problem-solving skills. Expert level firmware experience at the board design level, i2c buses, drivers, etc Expert level knowledge of designing drivers and firmware. Working level knowledge of NIC, Ethernet, and SERDES development and debug experience in pre- and post-silicon Working level knowledge of switch development and debug experience in pre- and post-silicon Expert level knowledge of software programming and scripting. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay.
