Life Safety/Security Systems Technician

Laitram, LLC is seeking a Life Safety/Security Systems Technician for fire, burglar, access control, and video surveillance systems. This position will be responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, alteration, and programming of life safety and security related systems throughout our US facilities. Performs installation, service, configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and repair and maintenance activities on fire alarm, smoke detection, video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarm systems.Read, interpret, and apply system design plans and building construction drawings including wiring diagrams and programming documentation.Terminate and understand cat5e, cat6, cat6a cabling, and fiber optics cabling.Troubleshoot low-voltage wiring issues and correct them accordingly while in the field.Basic programming on telecommunication equipment and alarm system equipment including intrusion alarm equipment, CCTV equipment, Access control equipment, and life safety equipment.Complete cable installation, device terminations including Strikes, Card readers, Mag Locks, Motion Detectors, etc.Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the installation of physical security and life safety systems to ensure compliance.Ensure compliance with NFPA, including performing annual device testing for fire alarm systems and complete and maintain all records required by NFPA.Portable fire extinguisher certification for annual, six year, and twelve year inspections.Serves as a liaison between Security Department and integrators to assist with proper installation and service support for any installation at company facilities.Assists with assessments and updates with manufacturers and integrators of physical security technologies.Supports field with maintenance and support for security technologies and networks, including coordination with IT Department.Qualifications
8+ years of progressive experience installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial life safety and physical security systems.Ability to interface with contractors performing design, installation, or modification of applicable systems.Strong technical knowledge of physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, intercom, and intrusion detection systems.Proven project management experience in applicable systems.Experience/certification in various life safety and security systems including Avigilon, AMAG, Edwards, Bosch, and/or Milestone.Experience with video analytics and remote video monitoring solutions.Ability to travel (20%) to company facilities for site visits, integrator meetings, security surveys.Possess or have the ability to obtain a NICET 3 certification within one year of hire date.Physical Requirements:
Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing a ladder, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools as required and lifting to 50lbs.
