JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology program leader for Color Cosmetics for Consumer Beauty and Prestige divisions, driving the Coty innovation strategy end-to-end and partnering inside and outside to build and engage on the strategy. R&D business partner to the Chief Brands Officers (CBOs), co-creating and co-owning the category innovation pipeline and product development executions for all relevant brands to deliver the Coty strategic objectives. Act as a leader on the Global R&D Leadership Team and on the Morris Plains site leadership team. Design/staff a world-class R&D Color Cosmetics organization. Build & Own the long-term cosmetics technology roadmap. Collaborate inside (across functions) and outside (raw material suppliers, TPMs, labs, universities) of Coty to build the roadmap and inspiration process to identify the category’s future innovation focus areas (benefit vectors) to design winning products for Coty’s portfolio (0-5 years) based on market Mass & Luxe, competitive, technology, and macro/micro trends (worldwide). Serve as a key partner to CBO and their Global Marketing teams to define the innovation strategy, plans, and creation of the IMP in all categories. This includes a deep understanding of consumer’s likes, dislikes, unmet needs; and a deep understanding of the retail/market environment for the brand. Ensure that innovations are fit for use in all key markets consistent with the strategic priorities of all brands including Mass & Luxe. Prompt the implementation of the existing technology platforms as part of the Initiative Master Plan to leverage speed and scale whilst meeting the brand and consumer needs. Represent Coty in key industry associations that affect our products (i.e. PCPC) as a key technical expert in order to influence future legislation. Manage and evolve the R&D organization. Assess current organization’s capabilities vs. brand ambitions and needs. Define and implement an adequate organization. Represent R&D in key retailer meetings, press events, etc. as needed. CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential Bachelor’s Degree, preferably advanced degree in a Scientific field such as chemistry, physical chemistry, life sciences, and chemical engineering. Minimum 15+ years of beauty industry experience. Deep understanding of color cosmetic science across all major technologies. Proven track record of managing innovation programs and teams. Strong understanding of CPG in the cosmetics industry (Large Beauty company experience). Proven technical and scientific experience in one or more R&D areas, formulation, product design, process development, packaging. Experience in R&D capabilities building and maintenance:
methods, GLP, modelling, claims, etc. Experience with management and development of people (Teams >50); ability to engage in career development globally. Proven track record in active collaboration with R&D and non-R&D functions. Proven experience & leadership in leading multi-functional and multi-cultural teams. Strong communication skills. Experience working in different cultures and countries. Passionate about beauty and beauty products. Solid knowledge on sustainability.
