ABOUT Hermosa
Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals-manganese and zinc-as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation's clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Principal, Environment you will be responsible for safe execution of site environmental management requirements. Collaborating with the site-based teams and Hermosa Environment and Permitting team to ensure compliance is met with all environmental regulations, permits, and company requirements for the project's mineral exploration, construction, water treatment, and operations.
Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Lead site-based environmental team to ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal environmental regulations and policies• Promotes a safe and inclusive work place and meet all company and MSHA safety requirements at a company with a strong safety culture.• Manages environmental permit to work process and obligations management system.• Manages and maintains environmental management system and compliance with the South32 Sustainability Policy, and South32 Environment & Climate Change Standard.• Effectively interface with stakeholders (e.g. site personal, regulatory agencies, governmental entities, and professional and industry associations) and supports regulatory compliance inspections.• Maintains knowledge of current environmental regulations and requirements and ensures environmental and compliance management systems are current.• Lead and support environmental hazard identification and environmental incident investigations and ensure controls or corrective actions are implemented to manage environmental risk.• Manage and conduct periodic environmental risk assessments and audits and ensure compliance.• Supports document and design review processes to ensure environmental compliance.• Provides leadership and support for site based environmental team.• Coordinate and manage environmental projects, including contractor, consultant, and technician activities.• Conduct regular and frequent inspections and audits of company operations to ensure regulatory compliance.• Prepares and maintains budget for environmental monitoring and compliance activities.• Ensure that departmental and company goals are achieved by participating in short and long-range planning activities.• Ensures environmental awareness training is provided to site employees and site contractors.
ABOUT YOU• Bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering with a minimum of 10 years combined education and relevant mining related experience.• Minimum ten (10) years of Environmental compliance related work with relevant technical field work experience.• Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.• Experience leading teams and interacting with customers.• Demonstrated working knowledge and compliance experience with applicable state and federal programs including, but not limited to: Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), AZ Aquifer Protection Permits (APP), AZ Pollution Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES), AZ Air Quality Permits, AZ Mine Land Reclamation Plans, Army Corps of Engineer Nationwide Permits, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), AZ Water Resources Dam Safety Permits, and USFS Mining regulations.• Ability to work outdoors including during periods of inclement weather and perform physical activities including occasional work underground.• Department of Transportation HazMat Training (preferred).• 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER Training (preferred).• Current MSHA Metal/non-metal annual training certificate (preferred).
