Once you join our Recreation Therapy Department, you will be a vital member of an Interdisciplinary Team, that includes Recreation Therapy Professionals, Physicians, Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, and Behavioral Health Technicians. We seek talented and passionate Recreation Therapy Professionals with expertise in Recreation, Music, and Art to join our Valleywise Health Team, where we strive to ensure innovative, creative, and educational Therapeutic Wellness Programming for our patients. Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Therapy Manager, the Recreation, Music, or Art Therapist will utilize their talent and skills to complete recreation therapy intake assessments and documentation, develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic groups, maintain daily documentation, plan programs and special events, precept students, actively participate in department staff meetings and coordinating agency-wide events. The Recreation, Music, and Art Therapist will also actively participate in Special Behavior Plan meetings, Behavior Rounds, and special event planning. The Recreation, Music, and Art Therapist will assist in ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment for patient safety.

Qualifications
Education :
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.Experience :
Must have a minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience assisting with recreation activities for physically, mentally, or socially disabled patients in a psychiatric setting that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Prefer prior experience as a Recreation Therapy Assistant.Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice.Certification/Licensure :
Requires certification as a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC)
or
certification/licensure by the state and/or national governing board in a related therapeutic discipline.Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Must possess a general knowledge of medical diagnoses and appropriate interventions.Must have strong teamwork, communication, and effective time management skills.Requires the ability to be creative and flexible with groups.Must have excellent documentation skills.Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.May be required to work overtime and flexible hours/locations.
