A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its international products practice with a focus on consumer products law in the European Union and the United Kingdom. This role requires at least three years of relevant legal experience, specifically in sustainability and product law. The attorney will work closely with global clients, advising on regulatory compliance in areas such as sustainability reporting, supply chain transparency, and product-related sustainability. The position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of industries, including apparel, food products, and more.Duties
Advise global consumer product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers on sustainability and product compliance matters.Analyze data requirements, create testing protocols, and manage disclosure notifications for chemical and material regulations.Provide guidance on developments under key EU and UK regulations, including REACH, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.Counsel clients on product labeling, market access, green marketing, and product notifications.Represent clients in matters involving ecodesign, chemical compliance, packaging, recycling obligations, and other sustainability-related requirements.Collaborate with clients on supply chain diligence, forced labor, deforestation issues, and broader environmental regulations.Requirements
Licensed to practice law in the EU and/or UK.Minimum of 3 years of experience in global sustainability and product law matters.Strong legal writing skills with experience drafting legal memoranda, briefs, contracts, and regulatory agreements.Proficient in researching international environmental, product stewardship, or administrative law and regulatory requirements.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and demonstrated experience in client engagement and business development.Education
Candidates must have a law degree and should rank in the top 10% of their law school class or demonstrate substantial professional achievements throughout their career.Certifications
Admitted to practice law in the European Union and/or the United Kingdom.Skills
Expertise in sustainability and product regulatory frameworks in the EU and UK.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex legal regulations to client needs.Effective communicator with both written and verbal skills, able to explain complex legal concepts to a variety of audiences.Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and billable hour expectations.Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across international borders and cultures.
