Maritime Safety Manager

Working under the direction of the COO, the Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. They conduct training sessions, monitor compliance, investigate accidents, and provide recommendations for improvement.
As a safety manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.
Requirements
• Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence. • Safety programs: Develop, execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines and oversees the safety program, including safety and health programs, accident prevention, and investigation • Safety inspections: Conducting safety inspections, audits, and meetings to ensure compliance and identify corrective actions • Safety training: Providing safety training for employees, including training on accident prevention and investigation • Safety policies: Creating and implementing safety policies and procedures to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries • Safety reporting: Preparing and filing reports for accidents and other safety breaches • Safety compliance: Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and ensuring compliance with OSHA, state, USG and federal rules and regulations • Safety culture: Prepare, enforce and improve the safety culture throughout the company • Safety emergencies: Developing and managing an Emergency Action Plan, and serving as the primary contact for reporting, investigating, and managing incidents and injuries • Safety equipment: Ensuring the safe installation of equipment • Safety awareness: Conducting in-house training sessions on health and safety awareness • Safety metrics: Tracking incident metrics and applying findings • Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence. • Other duties as assigned
