Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson School is seeking a Director of Upper Division Admissions (Grades 9-12) to start July 1, 2025. In this newly created position, reporting to the director of enrollment management, who currently oversees PK-12 admissions and acts as the upper division director of admissions, the new director of upper division admissions will will work closely with the director of enrollment management and other members of the admissions leadership team (ALT) (director of PK-8 admissions and director of international enrollment) to meet the targeted enrollment goals of the upper division. The director will hold primary responsibility for boarding and day student admissions in grades 9-12, overseeing related day-to-day admissions operations and guiding the work of five full- and part-time upper division admissions team members. The role will be very process focused, with the director taking the lead on admissions events, and acting as the department point person for the communications team. The position may involve a limited amount of travel. This is a good opportunity for an admissions professional looking to grow into a director of enrollment management role.
Successful candidates will possess related experience and depth of knowledge of boarding and day school admissions and familiarity with international student communities, be adept with student information systems and admissions platforms, be able to participate appropriately in financial assistance conversations, demonstrate an enthusiasm to meaningfully engage with interested students and families from diverse backgrounds to support them throughout the admissions process, and possess exceptional public speaking and presentation skills.
This is a full-time, 12-month/year administration staff position based on Stevenson's Pebble Beach campus. Work is performed primarily in-office with some local and regional travel required. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

Responsibilities Include:
Supervise and support the work of the upper division admissions staff and assistant/associate directors of admissionsWith the director of enrollment management (DEM), review and develop inquiry-to-enrollment strategies and communication plans on an annual basisOversee implementation of all upper division boarding/day admission and recruitment strategies developed in conjunction with the director of enrollment managementServe as the primary point of contact for all upper division admissions related concernsWith the DEM, review and develop inquiry-to-enrollment strategies and communication plans on an annual basisRepresent Stevenson at admissions events and conferences; local, regional, nationalWorking collaboratively with the DEM and other Admission Leadership Team members, develop and use data strategically to guide office operationsEngage with prospective families through the admissions process, from inquiry through post enrollmentInterview applicants and provide tours of campusParticipate in candidate review, file reading, and admissions committeesOversee all aspects, including content, schedule, planning and coordination with other offices, of Stevenson-hosted virtual and in-person upper division admissions eventsTravel to represent the school at admission events as agreed upon with the DEMDeliver professional, engaging, and compelling presentations to target audiencesDevelop and cultivate relationships with feeder schools, community based organizations, and parent/alumni volunteers in the local regionTrack upper division admissions budget expenditures with support of admissions office coordinatorWork closely with divisional leadership and co-directors of equity and inclusion to support the transition of newly admitted upper division students/families into the Stevenson communityOther duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree5-7 years of experience in Upper Division (9-12) independent school admission; boarding school admissions preferredDemonstrated ability and enthusiasm to supervise and support admissions team membersStrong interpersonal communication skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an enthusiasm to network with various constituenciesHigh level presentation skills and the ability to articulately communicate the mission of the SchoolHighly developed organizational skills, commitment to meeting deadlines, and ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneouslyDemonstrated proficiency with a range of admissions office systems and platformsThe ability to manage projects efficiently and effectively to completion, individually or as part of a teamWillingness and ability to work some weekends and evenings, as neededWillingness and ability to travel locally and regionally, as neededFluency in multiple languages is a plus factor
The anticipated salary range for this position is $125,000 - $135,000 annually, based on experience. In addition to competitive salary, Stevenson provides an excellent, comprehensive benefits package, including a menu of health insurance plans offered through Anthem, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and HSA/FSA options. The School also currently provides a monthly housing stipend to eligible employees and monthly fuel stipend for all non-housed employees. Lunch is provided at no cost to employees on a daily basis when school is in session.
