Key job responsibilities

Work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate to define and produce solutions for real customer problems.

Support your design work using all available insights including quantitative data and site metrics, customer feedback, and usability findings.

Advocate for and follow user-centered design principles.

Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, detailed visual mockups and prototypes to communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors.

Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values.

Present to business and design leadership.

Scope design initiatives and manage/prioritize work items.

About the team

The Central Science Team within Amazon’s People Experience and Technology org (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well-being, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team, which combines the talents of science, research, design and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience

Have an available online portfolio

Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps

Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides

Experience shipping innovative, successful consumer products

Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
