About the RoleThe Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for overseeing all operations, maintenance, and repair services for a large government facility in Washington, DC. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, or their designee, the CE ensures that all building systems operate efficiently with minimal downtime. They work closely with the on-site technical workforce to maintain building operations, conduct inspections, and ensure subcontractors meet their contractual obligations.The CE must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. They will develop and implement operating procedures, preventive maintenance plans, and repair routines for HVAC and utility systems. Additionally, the CE supervises the engineering team, maintenance mechanics, and helpers, ensuring the facility’s preventive and predictive maintenance is performed to contractual standards. Salary range dependent on qualifications and experience $115,000.00 - $125,000.00.Key Responsibilities:Manage all building operations, maintenance, and repair activities for the government facility.Ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.Collaborate with the on-site technical workforce to maintain systems and address any repair or maintenance needs.Supervise subcontractor activities, ensuring performance meets contract terms and conditions.Develop and implement operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, and technical instructions for building systems.Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of maintenance and repair tasks by engineers, mechanics, and helpers.Conduct regular facility tours to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.Ensure all building systems covered under the contract are maintained according to the standards outlined in the RFP.Maintain compliance with safety standards and best practices for building operations.The Chief Engineer shall possess the following minimum qualifications:At least 7 years of technical experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing MEP systems.A bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or client approved equivalent.Appropriate licenses and certifications for maintaining and repairing building systems at the facility.Extensive knowledge of HVAC, utility systems, and building infrastructure.Experience developing and implementing maintenance procedures and technical instructions.Skills & Abilities:Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage technical teams.Ability to work with subcontractors and ensure compliance with contract requirements.Solid problem-solving skills with a focus on preventive and predictive maintenance.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Ability to develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans.Schedule:
