Job Overview
This position is an onsite/hybrid role that can be located in Milwaukee, WI; Peoria, IL; Longview, TX : Warrendale, PA or Tucson, AZ.
The Manager, Strategic Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing and leading aportfolio management processthat represents product and technology projects for Komatsu Mining Technology (KMT), including Business Units (BU’s) and Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
Key Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement a KMT framework for managing and optimizing portfolios for BU’s and CoE selected projects. The framework will include the ideation & planning process (the steps leading up to the start of a project including the kickoff meeting).
Collaborate cross-functionally with BU’s and CoEs:
Leadthe portfolio management activities for the mining horizontal groups (CoEs).
Participatein portfolio management activities for vertical groups (BU’s).
Work with CoE/BU teams to select the right number of projects for the resources available:
Connect the needs of products and technologies.
Ensure projects funded have a strategic balance of risk and reward.
Lead sections of the ideation & planning process as reoccurring yearly activities, starting in 2025. This could include coordinating a yearly Komatsu Mining strategy meeting or mining product roadmap update activity.
Play a central role in future mid-term management plan development, possibly leading the activity for Komatsu Mining by FY27.
Prioritize projects to achieve strategy defined by Komatsu Mining and its development teams, including consideration for Mid Term Management Plan.
Provide advice in selecting enterprise tooling to ensure it meets the needs of portfolio management.
Up to 30% Domestic and international travel required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
MBA preferred
5-8 years of relevant experience in a global matrix business environment.
Previous experience in heavy equipment manufacturing preferred
Previous experience in the mining sector highly recommended
Product management experience preferred
Strong business financial acumen with expertise in cost-benefit analysis and ROI.
Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills
