You will assist the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub tech who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring sterilization at every point of the process. STATUS: Full Time LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital DEPARTMENT: Operating Room (OR) SCHEDULE: Primarily Day/Evening, with on-call which may include overnights, Weekends, Holidays ATTRIBUTES Completed a military surgical technology program -OR- Grand-Fathering Clause: Provides evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 12/31/10 – 12/31/14. -OR- Graduated from a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)- or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)- accredited program with a Surgical Technology major AND holds and maintains Certified Surgical Technologist certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)within 12 months of graduation. Surgical Technologist Certification is not required for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New York RESPONSIBILITIES CME maintenance. Must maintain at least 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) per year Supply check & sterilization. Ensure all supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available and sterilized for surgical procedures and proper operation Orientation. Assist in guiding medical/nursing students and technicians to the unit Draping & maintenance. Assist with draping procedures and demonstrates vigilance in maintaining overall sterility in the operation room Unit development. Help identify goals and objectives of the unit EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $26.50 - $32.50 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
