Position Summary/General Description
Low Voltage Technicians play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low voltage wiring and electrical equipment. Responsibilities include testing circuits, drilling, repairing security systems, diagnosing technical issues, visiting installation sites, and programming security units.
Expectations:Adhere to Company Core Values, Policies & Procedures.Serve in a leadership position both within and outside the organization.Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor towards customers and colleagues.Consistently arrive punctually and prepared for assigned duties.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Address low voltage issues affecting business, operations, or communications by creating detailed work orders and providing timely updates until resolution. Report accurately to Supervisor on escalated problems.Offer end-user training and support for low voltage wiring related to critical systems, data, networks, and communications.Execute routine tasks, review low voltage work orders, utilize problem-solving skills, and collaborate with contractors to resolve high-priority issues. Maintain documentation as necessary.Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, program, and service equipment. Assist end-users with setup, operation, and configuration changes as required.Replace components across various systems as needed. Estimate repair times and required materials for upgrades or replacements.Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance, maintaining accurate records and requisitioning necessary parts and supplies.Install cable, conduit, or fiber optic runs in district facilities according to plans, wiring diagrams, and work orders.Drive to work sites, suppliers, and contractors' locations.Manage inventory of low voltage supplies, cables, and essential equipment for mission-critical operations.Escalate issues to the Supervisor to minimize customer inconvenience and maintain service levels.Strictly adhere to safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any violations or hazardous conditions promptly and evacuate if necessary.Follow vehicle policies for assigned trucks and vans.Coordinate effectively with subcontractors to ensure project progress aligns with work scopes.Collaborate ethically and professionally with other trades, treating colleagues with integrity and respect.Foster a team-oriented environment, prioritizing collective goals and maintaining positivity and cooperation.Maintain courteous and professional relationships with personnel, clients, and the public at all times.Work under pressure, maintain regular attendance, and be flexible regarding work hours, including weekends and holidays.Fulfill additional duties and responsibilities as assigned or necessary.Requirements:
Education & Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or GED Certification required, with a minimum of four (4) years' experience in a low voltage support role.Knowledgeable about industry standards, best practices, and relevant codes for low voltage cabling.Low voltage certifications, IT certifications, or related college degrees are advantageous.Licensing & Certification Recommendations:Recommended to hold one of the following certifications: ES-3J, ES-7JComputer Equipment, Software, and Machinery Requirements:Experience in a Microsoft environment preferred.Experience with access control, audio/video systems, and point of sale systems considered beneficial.Essential Physical Requirements:Ability to hear, sit, stand, talk, walk, see, and use hands extensivelyAbility to bend, crouch, stoop, drive, kneel, reach overhead, and twistAbility to lift, carry, push, pull, and slide/transit items ranging from 1-50+ lbs.Essential Mental Demands:Ability to problem-solve, organize, plan, make decisions, interpret data, read, write, and utilize math skills extensivelySupervisory Responsibilities:May lead small projects as assigned.Work Environment (inside/outside):Job may involve indoor and outdoor work settings with exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, elevated areas, and confined spaces.Other Requirements:Must successfully pass a pre-employment background & alcohol/drug screening.
