Job Description for RF Modeling and Simulation Engineer
NY CREATES is seeking applicants for RF Modeling and Simulation Engineer for Silicon Photonics
This position is part of the Electronic Photonic Design Automation (EPDA) / Design Enablement group at AIM Photonics, NY-CREATES based in Albany, NY
This is dual role for an experienced candidate who will perform hands-on RF and Thermal simulations and modeling for:
1.) Process Design Kit (PDK) Components in AIM Photonics Silicon Photonics technologies.2.) Interconnects in Assembly, Packaging and RF offerings for AIM Photonics Packaging technologies.
In addition, the engineer is also expected to extract compact models, design, layout test structures and enablement components in AIM Photonics' PDK offerings.
RF Modeling and Simulation Engineer for Silicon Photonics duties assigned will include but will not be limited to:
RF simulations, modeling of Silicon Photonic technology components such as detectors, modulators, transmission lines, inductors etc.
RF and Thermal simulation and modeling of Packaging and Assembly technology offerings such as flip-chip, and wire bonds.
Data Analysis, Design, Layout of Test structures on test sites
Compact model extraction including measurement test plan development, Enablement of components in EDA platforms such as Cadence/Ansys/Synopsys
Contribution to AIM Photonics publications and proposals.
Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for RF Modeling and Simulation Engineer
MS with minimum of 5 years of work experience in a customer focused environment.
Hands-on experience in RF modeling and simulation in one or more areas: Packaging, Interconnects, Passive components, Transistors, High speed Electro-Optic modulators.
Experience with one more EDA tools such as Ansys/Cadence/Synopsys/ADS.
Design and Layout of tests structures in one or more EDA platforms.
Experience in designing RF measurement test plans and analyzing data.
Understanding of Chip and Assembly processes.
Willingness to work in Silicon Photonics area.
Experience with scripting or other data analysis tools.
This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
PhD + 2-5 years' experience in a RF, Thermal modeling and simulation
Experience with electro-optic RF and thermal simulations in EDA platforms in Silicon Photonics technology.
Experience building and contributing to PDKs for Silicon Photonics Packaging Technologies
Experience developing RF components in Assembly Design Kit for Interposer Technologies
