Job Summary
As the Rebar Shop Lead you will be responsible for directing all activities associated with the steel department to ensure engineered steel designs are fabricated based on drawings to meet production demand. This position will report to the Production Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Assign work activities amongst department personnel based upon demandWork with the Production Manager to ensure all steel designs are fabricated in accordance with product drawings at a minimum of one day prior to scheduled productionExamine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are metDeliver completed cage designs with accessories attached to the production floorEnsure all fabrication equipment is operating as designed including all associated safety featuresTrain and develop steel shop personnel on all activities & equipment associated with steel fabricationWork with Engineering to interpret drawing details, resolve any concerns/questions and communicate details to shop personnelContinuously look for ways to improve department efficiency, eliminate waste and reduce costsAll other duties as may be required on an as needed basisJob Requirements
High school diploma / equivalentPrevious steel fabrication experience regarding cutting, bending and tying rebar preferredMust have at least 2 years of related work experience in steel reinforcement activitiesExperience with operating a rebar shear/cutterExperience with operating a rebar benderAbility to read/write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, fractions)Ability to read and interpret steel design drawingsWorking knowledge of a tape measure/hand rulerLeadership skills in terms of prioritizing tasks, train/develop personnel and schedule/assign activitiesStrong interpersonal, communication and organizations skillsWhat CRH Offers You
