The Opportunity:
The Infection Preventionist will work in a hybrid capacity with weekly meetings onsite at the Mass General Brigham headquarters (Assembly Row in Somerville MA). In addition, frequent travel to various Mass General Brigham Medical Group locations across the region.
We are seeking a dedicated Infection Preventionist to implement and lead site-specific infection prevention and control initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Infection Control, this role focuses on applying evidence-based practices and proactive solutions to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities:
Implement Site-Level Programs:
Execute infection prevention and control policies, goals, and standards in alignment with MGBMG objectives and regulatory requirements.Surveillance and Reporting:
Oversee site-specific NHSN and non-NHSN infection surveillance, including detection, remediation, and reporting of outbreaks.Environment of Care:
Conduct regular rounds to evaluate and report infection prevention practices, collaborating with local and system leadership for continuous improvement.Educational Leadership:
Lead and support infection control educational efforts for site staff, enhancing awareness and adherence to best practices.Regulatory Liaison:
Act as a liaison to regulatory bodies and public health agencies, ensuring compliance and adherence to infection control regulations.Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Partner with Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Compliance, Facilities, and other stakeholders to mitigate and manage infection risks.Qualifications
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Infection Control, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics preferred; Masters in Healthcare Management or another relevant field is acceptable.Experience:
At least 3 years of related work experience.Certification:
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. If not certified, the candidate must be prepared to sit for CIC within 2 years.Licensure:
Massachusetts RN licensure preferred but not required.Skills & Knowledge:Familiarity with CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and other healthcare-associated infection surveillance methods.Understanding of regulatory standards and experience in applying performance metrics like Vizient, Leapfrog, and CMS.Why Join Us?
