Network Security Engineer

Work Location:

This is a fully in-office/on-site position in Woodbury, NY for the first 90 days. After 90 days, the role will be hybrid onsite 3 days/2 days remote per week.

Position Summary:

This role is available with a leading Cable/Internet company on the East Coast. It will be a combination of networking and security, with an emphasis on network engineering. The ideal candidate will have more experience on the network engineering side.

Position Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage complex network architecture to meet requirements from various business unitsSupport network and security infrastructure and controls, including, but not limited to Routers, Switches, SD-WAN, Firewalls, VPN, TACACS, NetFlow based tools, etc.Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for the network; assist in conducting periodic internal and external audits to assess security/risk in our company's networkEnsure network systems comply with relevant regulatory and compliance standardsParticipate in incident triage, analysis, response, and remediation for network outages, intrusions, attacks, and other incidentsAssist in developing network-specific security policies, guidelines, standards, and proceduresImplement automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive network tasksManage network services and configurations, recommending and implementing changes that will improve overall company network securityAssist in evaluating and developing solutions for complex network and security technologies for enterprise and service provider environmentsWork with network hardware and software vendors to evaluate new products and technologiesLead and/or participate in network-related projects, ensuring timely and successful completionCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective network solutions; collaborate with IT to design and implement hybrid cloud network solutionsPerform other duties as requested by the supervisor

Requirements:

5+ years of technical hands-on networking and security experienceProficiency with network administration and architecture, and an in-depth understanding of communication protocols and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)Familiarity with access control models and network security, knowledge of coding languages for scripting (Python)Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis toolsExperience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, netflow, and other network security tools

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Cloud networking experienceNetworking and security certifications (CCNA, CCNP, etc)Familiarity with Cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISO 27001
