Walking to and from meetings and events.Shift40/week along with night and weekend hours as needed/requiredJob SummaryThe Office of Student Organizations and Activities at the University of Kentucky is seeking a detail oriented, innovative, and strategic individual to join our team as a Senior Specialist for Major Campus Programming. In this role, your portfolio will include:Management and delivery of large-scale and campus wide events including the oversight of the coordination, planning, and execution of these events, including but not limited to:Vendor ManagementBudget ManagementDay-of Event ManagementPartnership Management/CoordinationVolunteer CoordinationMarketing and promotions of eventsRisk Management (Forecasting and Implementation)Holistic coordination and execution of welcome week (K-Week)/Labor Stay/Homecoming program and events planning, coordination, and executionDevelopment of impactful major campus programs designed to align with the office mission and holistically foster campus involvement and engagement among studentsAdvising students and student organizations including DanceBlue including but not limited to:Advisement of 11 student chairs and oversight of 150+ student committeeOversight and execution support on large scale events such as DanceBlue SK, DanceBlue U, DanceBlue Marathon, DanceBlue Silent Auction, and other events hosted by the DanceBlue Student OrganizationAdministrative support and management of financials, fundraising, operations/purchases, contract negotiation, etc.Design and deliver training sessions for student leaders through the SOA Summit and associated workshopsBuilding strategic partnerships within Student Orgs and Activities, Dean of Students, the Office for Student Success, and the holistic UK campusSupport holistic operations of the Office of Student Organizations and Activities by:Contributing to strategic planning effortsDeveloping yearly budgetary requests and plansEvaluating program effectiveness through assessment and reportingCreating and executing marketing and promotion strategies to enhance holistic office mission, visibility, and engagement with studentsBe a proactive team member within the Office of Student Organizations and Activities by supporting operations around projects such as but not limited to:SOA SummitSOA WorkshopsLead Blue CeremonySOA CommitteesSOA Programming and Large EventsVolunteering with collaborative campus partnersDue to the nature of the work associated with this role, occasional night and weekend coverage may be necessary.The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a related field along with previous experience in event planning and delivery and student affairs, strong communication skills, proficiency in budget management, excellent organizational expertise, fine attention to details, developed time management skills, capacity to develop relationships, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate also possesses a proactive attitude, demonstrating a willingness to take initiative and think creatively to achieve goals.
