Job Summary: The Coordinator-Auth Phys Med Grp manages the authorization process for all services and procedures in the Internal Medicine Specialty Clinics. Determines the appropriate locations for these services based on the patient's insurance and other requirements. Responsible for authorization related issues on behalf of the clinical and front office staff, including DME's and Stat authorizations. Assists patients with referral and insurance issues ensuring authorization is obtained for all types of office procedures in a timely manner. Manages job related WQ's to ensure that all requested services are authorized and scheduled. Performs front office duties as needed. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum two years healthcare experience preferred. Epic system experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge: Knowledge of current ICD and CPT coding systems required. Knowledge of Epic Systems. Essential Technical/Motor Skills. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Essential Interpersonal Skills: Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Essential Mental Abilities: Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Essential Sensory Abilities: Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Certified Coder preferred.
