CORPORATE FINANCE GROUP

The Corporate Finance Group is currently a team of twenty individuals and is responsible for the day-to-day accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting, internal reporting and external reporting requirements for the Global Management Company. Our current Enterprise Risk Platform is Workday Financials. The Global Management Company consolidates the operations of the various Registered Investment Advisors (including Private Equity, Ventures, Crypto, Credit, Public Equity, Strategic Alternatives, Real Estate, Partnership Strategies, Tech Opps, Insurance, Life Sciences and Double Impact) and the entities by geography including Asia (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, and Korea), Europe (London, Munich, Dublin, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Ireland), Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) and India (Mumbai and Mauritius). Corporate Finance is also responsible for Tax Accounting and works closely with the Tax Department on Tax Reporting, as well as Special Purpose reporting, working closely with FP&A and other Finance groups within the Firm. Other responsibilities within the group include the Cash Reporting Function (our key banking relationships are Bank of America and BBH) and Cash Forecasting.

Position Description

The Director of Financial Operations will work closely with the US Controller to assure all corporate level internal and external reporting requirements for the Global Management Company are provided in an accurate and timely manner. This individual will help oversee all operational teams in Corporate Finance, such as the Accounts Payable, Certain Accounts Receivable and Expense Payment Processing teams. Additionally, the Director will help oversee key functions of operational reporting and analysis of KPIs and will lead transformational efforts and systems enhancement initiatives. This individual will interface with various stakeholders across compliance, internal audit, legal, tax and business finance and business operations teams. This individual will have a direct reporting line to the US Controller.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the US Controller to oversee various internal and external reporting requirements, spanning across each of the businesses and at the management company level, both from a US and Global view. Lead the development and implementation of various transformational reporting initiatives integrated in these requirements.
  • Manage corporate finance policies and procedures, lead efforts across risk analysis and controls assessment programs working closely with internal audit and compliance. This entails the development of and implementation of new controls across the operational functions of the team, and monitoring and assessment of existing controls.
  • Oversee the teams that maintain the expense report system, accounts payables, balance sheet management, and cash reconciliations.
  • Oversee the team that processes expense allocations across the capital markets businesses.
  • Oversee the teams that manage certain accounts receivable functions, working closely with business units and portfolio company teams to ensure balances are repaid timely and reporting needs are met.
  • Oversee various tasks around cashflow management and balance sheet reporting metrics.
  • Responsibilities also include working closely with various stakeholders across the Bain organization (other departments/business units) to manage business needs as they arise.
  • Ensure that best demonstrated practices are shared and implemented amongst the group.
  • Support the External Reporting function including independent audits, tax return preparation, and bank and investor covenant compliance.
  • Support the business units and other administrative areas with analysis.
  • Support key systems enhancements within the Corporate Finance Function.
  • Various ad hoc projects


Requirements

Experience
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 15+ years of related experience
  • Certified Public Accountant with either controllership experience for the management company of an investment firm, or public accounting firm experience for the management company of an investment firm
  • Significant years of experience operating in a complex, multi-legal entity, multi-business unit, tax driven environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • Experience with Workday Financials and/or Anaplan reporting a plus
