Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee our Fixed Assets, Leases, inventory and receivables. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a complete and accurately recorded fixed asset register, ensuring proper recording of purchase, disposal, and depreciation of company assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger accounting for fixed assets, which includes, general ledger oversight, month-end close, financial reporting, period over period analysis and adhering to internal controls. The successful candidate must possess well-rounded accounting knowledge and experience, along with strong inter-personal skills. This individual will also be involved in several ad-hoc accounting, reporting projects and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Report directly to the Accounting Manager, you will maintain and manage the company's fixed asset register.
  • Record the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, track existing fixed assets, record depreciation, and account for the disposition of fixed assets.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to fixed assets.
  • Ensure all fixed asset transactions comply with company policies and IFRS.
  • Liaise with auditors and tax team to support the audit of fixed assets.
  • Perform detailed analysis of fixed assets and provide insights into fluctuations and alert management of any issues you may identify.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to fixed assets.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline purchase, utilization, and disposal of fixed assets.
  • Provide technical accounting IFRS guidance and support to all company departments.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of process improvements and best practices by utilizing the Kaizen approach and RPA.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements and reports related to fixed assets, and provide detailed analysis and commentary.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, maintain and review J-SOX documentation including system understanding, process and transaction flows, to maintain effective controls.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or other relevant certification is a plus
  • 1+ years of experience in fixed assets, with a strong understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards related to Fixed Assets, including IFRS 16, accounting for leases.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel functions and formulas, including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, pivot tables and IF statements
  • Ability to create and maintain complex spreadsheets for financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, Oracle Cloud experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex payroll and benefits issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Results orientated, flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables to quick schedules.

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base compensation for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
