The Senior Social Media Manager / Creator will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage key audiences for the Generac brand. Responsibilities include content planning, creation, and project management, as well as mentoring junior team members. You will manage social media campaigns, produce content (e.g., UGC-style videos), and stay updated on trends and legal compliance. The role also involves community engagement, social listening, and reporting analytics to improve performance and drive business goals. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to align business goals with creative content, focusing on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

The Senior Social Media Manager / Creator will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage key audiences for the Generac brand. Responsibilities include content planning, creation, and project management, as well as mentoring junior team members. You will manage social media campaigns, produce content (e.g., UGC-style videos), and stay updated on trends and legal compliance. Editorial/Content Planning:
- Develop highly engaging content that maximizes reach and engagement for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more
- Creatively execute content calendar development through concepting, copywriting and content guidance for creative. How can Generac show up on-brand, but in fresh ways?
- Work with Generac's Creative Team/third-party agencies to bring ideas to life and project manage the review process to completion, ensuring a balance between creative approach and business goals.
- Mentor junior team members on brand tone/voice and social writing/creative concepting excellence
- Develop detailed briefs for content needs, with appropriate input and approval from key stakeholders
Content Creation:
- Concept, storyboard, film/photo shoot, and edit (both through native functionality and platforms like CapCut) UGC-type vertical video content
- Work across the business and with our agency partners to guide external content creator and influencer work
- Creatively identify and bring customer testimonials to life for organic social content
- Identify opportunities to turn relevant cultural and social media trends into content that resonates with our audiences, interpreting them for the brand with a knowledge of IP/copyright challenges and how to approach with legal compliance
- Secure approvals for all content created, while navigating the tricky balance between social-first and legal-approved, developing a relationship that shows we understand the brand needs and social needs together
Analytics & Reporting:
- Use metrics tool (currently Sprout social) to compile analytics reports, but also interpret them using thoughtful analysis to explain the narrative around social media success and create action items for improving KPIs and informing content test and learns.
- Take initiative by reviewing work and recommendations using those analytics for strategic accuracy and determining next steps.
Community Building:
- Collaborate with team to help identify opportunities to turn social listening into opportunistic content
- Reply to audience comments, both in-platform and through Sprout's Smart Inbox of customer DMs. Directing comments to appropriate teams and upleveling conversation topics to the business for optimizing the customer experience.
Operational Excellence:
- Identify and recommend solutions for process and procedures that could be improved
- Stay up to date with social media best practices, trends, and algorithm changes to optimize content and strategies
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
- 6 years' experience working in social on content and a portfolio that highlights previous brand work.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Proven ability to independently create and execute social media content, including concepting, shooting, and editing, with measurable success.
- Expertise in editorial calendaring, with the ability to plan content well in advance while remaining flexible to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Passion for social-first content and the ability to educate stakeholders on its value and emerging trends.
- Strong knowledge of social media trends and the evolving digital landscape, with an understanding of high-performing content across relevant platforms.
- Comfortable both in front of the camera and coaching others to create social-first content.
- Collaborative mindset with strong relationship-building skills, effectively communicating the rationale behind ideas to gain buy-in and trust.
