Job Description

Chubb is currently seeking a renewal property underwriter to join its Commercial team servicing the Midwest Region.

This position supports the Midwest Regional sales and production branches & Chubb Commercial Insurance underwriting goals related to profit, customer service, and producer relationships.

The underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. The underwriter will manage a book of business based on established criteria. The underwriter will be responsible for developing strong relationships with independent agents and brokers to successfully manage our business. The candidate must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of renewal underwriters, streamline and endorsement underwriters, claims and loss control personnel.

Qualifications

Competencies/Technical Skills

  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop producer relationships
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze risks, prioritize the gathering of underwriting data, and clearly communicate a well thought out underwriting approach
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills required
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
  • Strong time and desk management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of underwriting experience
  • Confidence to gain a marketplace presence and become a trusted advisor for assigned agents/brokers.
  • Presentation and public speaking skills
  • Strong negotiations skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of current insurance marketplace conditions
  • Understanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authority
  • Understanding of property insurance coverage, terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Local broker and insurance marketplace relationships preferred but not required.
