BUSINESS CONTEXT:

Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for the preparation of a wide variety of EO derivatives (EODs), including various surfactants, as well as a host of other chemical intermediates including Glycol Ethers, Polyethlene Glycols, Ethanolamines, and Alkyl Alkanolamines.

INEOS Oxide is one of the world's leading producers of Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs). We currently have a total EO and EOD capacity of 920 kta spread across five different production units throughout Europe and the US. These units have leading cost economics, due to economies of scale, state-of-the-art technology, strategic locations, etc. Our EO project in the US is targeting the fast-growing merchant EO market, building on our experience and leadership position in Europe.

Purpose of the Job:

Most Important Internal Factors
  • The Machinery Engineer will monitor, troubleshoot, and improve rotating equipment to optimize mean time between failure, ensuring the operational needs of the plant are met, while complying with the changing environmental initiatives. Additionally, they will work on capital replacement projects to address obsolescence. During a typical day they will work with the Specialist, Millwrights and Maintenance Supervisor.

  • The candidate is responsible for safe and efficient operation of rotating equipment using established operating discipline, procedural compliance and engineering standards. This engineer is responsible for maintaining these assets and their protective systems to meet the production targets set by the business.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accountability 1:

SHE
  • Support INEOS's 20 Principles of Safety
  • Adhere to and uphold all safety policies and standards
  • Maintain safe and efficient operation of the rotating equipment using established operating disciplines and procedures. Ensure that safety and environmental compliance is achieved.
  • Support PSM and Environmental efforts including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change process, Risk Assessments and incident investigations.
  • Maintain plant assets and protective systems integrity.
  • Assist in defining and maintaining the correct operating envelopes. Investigate when deviations occur and propose solution to mitigate.
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
  • Initiate Management of Change process and participate in Risk Assessments and incident investigations.
  • Complete all assigned training and action items from PHAs, incidents, audits, etc. in a timely manner


Accountability 2:

Manufacturing Excellence
  • Support established production targets by ensuring reliable equipment availability.
  • Focus on resolving long term reliability issues
  • Lead efforts to identify and execute scope during Turn Around activities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems with Production Specialists, Maintenance, Reliability and Operations teams.
  • Facilitate and implement root cause analysis
  • Benchmark, identify and implement best in class improvements and practices to improve the operation and efficiency of the equipment.
  • Track equipment mean time between failures/ repairs and identify opportunities to optimize while minimizing cost and waste.
  • Identify, track and communicate key performance indicators for critical equipment.
  • Provide support to operations during upset conditions, start-ups and T/As.
  • Support on call schedule for weekends, evenings, and holidays


Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general
  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-10 years plant machinery experience

Technical Skills
  • Training Skills
  • Keen computer skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Advanced knowledge of turbines, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and reciprocating compressors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of condition monitoring systems and equipment and process trending.
  • Intermediate knowledge of PM creation and reliability cantered maintenance and best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of PSM
  • Proficiency using root cause failure analysis.
