What is the opportunity?
As a Director, you will lead a team of professionals managing a trading credit portfolio and facilitating transactions originated by the various trading businesses of RBC Capital Markets (CM) Partner with various trading in CM to identify and recommend suitable counterparties; facilitate the credit process, including evaluating and screening requests, preparing requests and risk assessments; co-ordinate the documentation process, including structuring appropriate credit mitigation and optimize revenues. You will maintain relationships with RBC CM coverage professionals, Group Risk Management and other stakeholders to ensure client needs are met on a timely basis including addressing credit requirements as necessary. Additionally, you will develop and maintain relationships with clients to enhance credit management and to seek to optimize business opportunities

Job Description
What is the opportunity?
As a Director, you will lead a team of professionals managing a trading credit portfolio and facilitating transactions originated by the various trading businesses of RBC Capital Markets (CM) Partner with various trading in CM to identify and recommend suitable counterparties; facilitate the credit process, including evaluating and screening requests, preparing requests and risk assessments; co-ordinate the documentation process, including structuring appropriate credit mitigation and optimize revenues. You will maintain relationships with RBC CM coverage professionals, Group Risk Management and other stakeholders to ensure client needs are met on a timely basis including addressing credit requirements as necessary. Additionally, you will develop and maintain relationships with clients to enhance credit management and to seek to optimize business opportunities
What will you do?
- Lead a team of professionals in Toronto.
- Proactively manage counterparty credit risks in support of the RBC CM business.
- Timely preparation of grid-based limit assessments and credit transaction requests for existing and new relationships (seek and defend business head limit requests and assist with KYC/AML and regulatory on boarding as required).
- Develop client strategies for top tier relationships designed to increase level of client experience to support new revenue enhancing opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of RBC trading policies and guidelines.
- Maintain relationships with CM sales and trading professionals globally in order to facilitate transaction requests and optimize business opportunities across the RBC trading platform.
- Maintain relationships with Group Risk Management Wholesale Credit, Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk, and RBC Law Group.
- Undertake appropriate due diligence and analysis of counterparties' financial performance as well as relevant industry information for credit proposals.
- Provide research and market intelligence for portfolio and risk assessment purposes using variety of sources including client provided data, news services and industry-specific websites.
- Provide project and policy support in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
- Support Annual/Biennial Review process and other credit review processes as required.
- Ensure Compliance Management (excesses, limit reductions and closures, etc.) for assigned portfolio is complete.
- Assignment of a portfolio of counterparties trading with RBC's CM business.
- Serve as a key reference point to assist sales and relationship professionals in the development of business cases and strategies in accordance with policy and procedures. These strategies are the crucial element used to obtain limits, identify revenue opportunities and assist in overall risk management.
- Assisting in the structuring and monitoring of credit requests and facilities directly contribute to front office revenue generating and relationship building efforts.
- Effectiveness of risk analysis contributes to a portfolio-wide risk profile that meets RBC Capital Market's risk appetite for the sector.
- Ensure client data is received and processed in a timely manner
- Maintain and develop relationships with peers, senior officers of the following business units and functional areas within RBC:
- CM sales & trading professionals globally
- Group Risk Management-Credit, Market Risk, and Counterparty Credit Risk (all levels)
- RBC Law Group
- Client Success Team
What do you need to succeed?
- Required Education: Minimum: Honours, B.A. or B. Comm. Preferred post-graduate (MBA) and/or CFA
- Preferred Experience: Minimum of 6 years of Credit experience working within the financial institutions. Previous credit and account management experience / risk management experience
- Knowledge of global markets trading products including FX, Rates, Equities, Fixed income etc.
- Strong credit analysis skills
- Understand and assist in negotiating supporting trading documentation (e.g. ISDA and GMRA), and review of unauthorized overdrafts.
- Understanding of diverse client types and industries.
- Behavioural competencies required include: leadership; analytical skills, critical thinking, strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, teamwork, initiative, strong organizational and time management skills (must be able to prioritize and reprioritize tasks to meet the fast paced demands of the trading environment)
- Technical skills required include; high proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); strong research skills; solid understanding of financial statements; high aptitude for reviewing legal documentation
- Possess personal and effective client management skills.
