Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for?

The Intertek Building Science Solutions Northeast Team is looking for a full-time Senior Project Manager in either New York City or Philadelphia to support projects nationally. The Senior Project Manager will assist senior team members and project manage their own small to medium-sized projects with oversight. The work will include building enclosure consulting for new design and the evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings, with an emphasis on energy, performance analysis and code compliance.

The Senior Project Manager will maintain professional and client relationships with involvement in their field of technical expertise through varied professional associations, committee work, and industry involvement. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented and organized professional to join our growing office. This position will travel as business needs indicate.

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM

What you'll do:
  • Perform compliant computer simulations following all associated standards and methods
  • Perform energy modeling and calculation of energy use derived from HVAC, lighting, and building enclosure retrofits
  • Perform energy audits for due diligence reporting
  • Perform condensation and thermal and hygrothermal analysis to evaluate building enclosures for new construction and restoration projects
  • Work within the Intertek BSS team to coordinate with Intertek's thermal simulation department on technical matters and project assistance
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders for project work
  • Assist with the strategic development of our consulting practice
  • Prepare professionally written technical reports
  • Assist with new design consulting and peer reviews for building enclosures
  • Perform building enclosure review of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals
  • Assist with construction administration services, including shop drawing reviews, and site visits
  • Assist with remediation design of building enclosures
  • Prepare sketches and details of building enclosure components and assemblies
  • Litigation support for projects involving building enclosures

Essential Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of commonly modeled mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling inputs, including model geometry creation and HVAC system modeling.
  • Experience with eQuest, EnergyPlus or other energy simulation tools
  • Experience with THERM, WUFI, Window and steady state analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, IECC and other state energy code compliance requirements and processes
  • Knowledge of energy audits and energy benchmarking of buildings
  • Experience in quantifying and graphically reporting of energy conservation measures.
  • Experience in presenting analytical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Safety Training/Scaffold Certification.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit and three-dimensional modeling

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
  • 7+ years of Enclosure Consulting, Architecture, Engineering or Construction experience. Related industry experience in HVAC design, construction and/or operation will be considered
  • Professional licensing/registration
  • Technical knowledge of building construction and building enclosure systems
  • Construction administration, progress observation and site inspection experience
  • Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project teams
  • Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local workload and project location
