Singer Equipment Company, a leading food service and equipment distributor, is seeking an Account Manager to help continue to grow our DC market. The Account Manager will be responsible for promoting the company's products, services, and build relationships with new and existing customers. This position maintains and grows sales of kitchen equipment, tabletop, smallwares, paper products and chemicals to restaurants, office building cafeterias, country clubs, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, motels and/or other properties that require kitchen equipment and supplies. The focus of the Account Manager role is to penetrate this region and achieve sales and profit goals.
Build a new territory by prospecting for new clients as well as cultivating existing relationshipsEmploy product knowledge to educate and sell prospect baseDemonstrate mastery of consultative selling by generating interest and cultivating relationshipsCall and engage prospective properties and promote the value of dealing with our companyMake product recommendations based on the needs of the businessProvide samples, fliers, or catalogs and discuss product features, advantages and benefits based on their needsQuote prices, convey credit terms, and prepare sales contractsWork with Accounts Receivable to ensure that customers pay invoices within agreed upon termsTravel for company functions, sales meetings, conferences and training sessionsSubmit sales and expense reports in a timely mannerIdeal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities
Two to five years sales experience with proven record of sales success and history of accomplishments preferedEmployees or former employees of country clubs, restaurants, or catering facilities a plusCandidates who are or were in the foodservice distribution business, restaurant managers, chefs, restaurant operations, sold restaurant equipment or supplies, or managed the front of the house operations for a foodservice establishment, all a plusStellar business ethicsProfessional demeanor, vibrant personality, and the ability to instill trust in prospects and customersGoal-oriented and driven self-starter who can work independently or with a teamPrior proof of earnings (base + commissions) that indicates potential for target earningsFluency in English, excellent written and verbal communication, active listening, and customer service skills; bilingual in Spanish a plusComputer literacy that includes, Internet navigation and use of Microsoft Office as well as a willingness to become proficient using prescribed company technology and softwareCapacity to convey ideas effectively and sell a variety of products; possess strong closing skillsMust be willing to sign a Covenants AgreementMust maintain a valid driver license with a driving record that meets Company minimum standards for travel throughout assigned district to service customers and call upon prospectsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCollege degree preferredAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups of managers, clients and customersAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to work in a disciplined, consistent, timely and objective manner and capable of following established policies, procedures and practicesAbility to plan and organize own activities; analyze data; manage work time efficiently; follow procedures and policies; identify and solve problems; and manage multiple prioritiesReports to work promptly and regularly, demonstrates the ability to consistently meet deadlines

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position will require regular travel via a personal automobile or mass transit which may result in long periods of sitting.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Depending on the assigned territory, the Account Manager may work in a normal office environment or work from a home situation. Account Managers are expected to travel to and from their accounts as needed. There is very limited overnight travel required (less than 20%) and specifically pertains to company events, staff meetings, training sessions, vendor fairs and client appointments.
