Position Summary:
The
Senior Accountant
will be an instrumental member of the Pioneering Medicines finance team, reporting to the Controller, Pioneering Medicines. In this exciting role, the Senior Accountant will have exposure to a wide range of exciting strategies, accounting and financial reporting systems and activities.
Key Responsibilities:Perform and assist with month- and quarter-end close for entities in the Pioneering Medicines organization ensuring compliance with US GAAP, including preparation of traditional journal entries and account reconciliations relating to cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, debt, and equityManage ASC 842 lease accounting processMonitor, track and record capital project expendituresAssist with on-going financial reporting standards and close processes to align the business and implement regular cadence of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements to various stakeholdersPartner with Controller to develop and prepare and update annual budget and forecastsPreparation and assistance with year-end tax and reporting deliverablesProvide support for annual financial statement audits and periodic reviewsAssist with specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing biotechnology start-up, such as system implementations and updates and business process improvementsConsult with business operating unit to ensure purchasing is efficient and within guidelinesProvide Ad-Hoc reporting and analysisQualifications:
3+years of financial and accounting experience. Life sciences / biotechnology industry preferredBS/BA in accounting or finance, MBA is a plus.CPA preferred.Strong business acumenExtensive experience with Microsoft ExcelExperience with NetSuite, FinQuery a plusAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentMust have excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detailAbility to work both independently and in a collaborative team settingAbility to work within and meet all deadlines while executing on multiple deliverablesExperience in managing budgets, including research collaboration budgets is preferredFlexible, personable team-player, comfortable in a fast-paced environmentProven ability to set and meet ambitious deadlines, manage numerous multifaceted financial matters and see projects through to conclusionStrong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both scientists and managementAbility to distill complexity and to communicate decisively with sound judgementJoining Flagship Pioneering will allow you to:
