Senior Systems Administrator/Lab Lead
Years of Experience:
Six (6) years as a Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, or in a Lab/IT Support Team Lead role
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have a broad background as a Systems Administrator, and experience leading a team, and motivating that team to excel. We are looking for a candidate with a strong Linux systems administration background. We maintain a lab environment where we host both mirrored versions of operational mission systems and offer a testbed to evaluate engineering drops and candidate deliveries test teams, and end users as needed to evaluate these upgrades as they proceed on the path to formal acceptance and operational deployment. There can be some challenges. The team needs to be adept at troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, and working with the developers and support teams to solve problems, while meeting the customer's priorities and schedules.
Qualifications:
• No degree required.
• Three years' experience as a supervisor of a team
• Experience
o Managing day-to-day tasking of a team
o Scheduling of tasks and projects
o Generating accurate estimates
o Reallocating resources (personnel and systems) to meet highest priority tasks and deadlines
o Communicating status and roadblocks to management and customers
• Hands-on experience in administration the following tools or equivalents:
o RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
o VMWare
• Experience with the full range of Systems Administration tasks
o OS installation and upgrades
o COTS product installation and upgrades
o Support to Database installation and upgrades
o Virtual Machine configuration. Maintenance, upgrades
o Configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of hardware desktops, servers, RAID arrays and network storage solutions
o Domain Controller configuration and maintenance
o PKI certificate generation, installation, maintenance
o Knowledge of networking, switches, routers, gateways and firewalls
o Systems scans (ACAS, SCAP, and/or nessus) and remediation
o Regular patching of operating systems and COTS
o System backups and recovery
o Disaster recovery planning and execution
o Troubleshooting issues with communications and system and software operations
o Support for system migration or rehosting
• An understanding of Systems Administration of Windows 10 or 11
• Good problem-solving skills with a high level of communication ability
• Experience with Solaris, Oracle, or Postgres is desired but not required.
• Experience with government or commercial cloud hosted systems (AWS or Azure) desired but not required.
Clearance:
Secret or higher
No interim Secret clearances accepted.
