*Job Description:*We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our client's team in Madison. This role requires an expert understanding of Cisco equipment and involves hands-on troubleshooting and breakfix tasks. The ideal candidate will also play a consultative role, providing forward-thinking insights and recommendations for the company's network strategy.This position sits hybrid in Madison, WI.*Key Responsibilities:*
* Design and implement both short-term and long-term plans to ensure network can handle current and future demands.* Develop, implement, and maintain network policies and procedures.* Create and deploy methods for testing network performance and generate performance statistics and reports.* Work with partners and vendors to achieve team goals.* Create budgets for current and future network projects, services, and hardware.* Mentor network team staff, leading and facilitating the technical work of the team.* Plan, acquire, and coordinate the installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization's network infrastructure.* Prepare RFPs, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for projects and associated efforts.* Manage contracts for network equipment and services.* Research and recommend network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network procurement and development efforts.* Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.* Assess, approve, and manage equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.* Develop long-term strategies and capacity planning for future network/telecommunication needs.* Ensure the optimal operation of all network hardware, including routers, switches, and access points.* Maintain regular written and in-person communications with decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end-users regarding network activities.* Analyze, diagnose, and resolve network problems for end-users; recommend and implement solutions.* Perform network system backup and recovery.* Manage network assets, including maintaining network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.*Experience: *Required:
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent* 6+ years' of relevant network administration experiencePreferred:
