POSITION SUMMARY
This Senior Accountant role is responsible for monitoring non-standard processes within SPG’s AIM Accounting platform until eventual absorption into the SFC (SPG Financial Center). This role is pivotal in shepherding legacy accounting functions from migration through stabilization within the SFC and will report to the SFC Integrations Senior Manager.
Specialty Program Group is an insurance MGA industry leader continuing to grow organically and via mergers and acquisitions. This results in a need to develop process improvements and standardize procedures. These changes must be effectively managed, communicated and executed to achieve the desired outcomes.
This is a hybrid position that requires three days in office in Brentwood, TN
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reconcile system migration related issues
Monitor migration plan execution of accounting processes (with an eye towards integration into our shared services center known as SFC)
Monitor unapplied cash activity/backlogs for newly migrated entities to ensure internal policy compliance.
Monitor Carrier Payables for timely payments for newly migrated entities.
Monitor issues on newly migrated entities; assist in escalation and resolution of items as they arise (maintain and report on issue log).
Make manual and/or nonstandard entries until handoff to SFC
Convey key learnings/process improvement with SFC Integrations Senior Manager to incorporate into future Standard Operating Procedures
Other optimization projects outside of AIM migrations
Collaborate with our external consultant and execute the shared vision.
Maintain cross-functional relationships with Finance & Accounting as well as key stakeholders in other departments such as Operations, IT, and Treasury.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of experience within a corporate accounting environment
Experience reconciling Cash, AR, and AP balance sheet accounts
Intermediate Excel skills (such as vlookups, pivot tables)
Experience collaborating with other departments (Operations, Legal, and IT)
Interest in continuous process improvement (voluntary as well as assigned)
Preferred:
Experience working with internal or external audit
Insurance industry accounting experience
Basic knowledge of AIM
