SUMMARY Performs a wide variety of assembly/fabrication/production and/or operator tasks. Duties and responsibilities include following blueprints, piecing together specified metal parts, such as copper, cast iron pipes or joints, and then using a specialized torch to heat two combined metals until they melt and join with filler rod. Sets up equipment and assists lower-level production workers in the set-up and operation of machinery and equipment. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) Safety- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs. Quality- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs. Production- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs. Brazer I Brazer II Brazer III Passing Score of 80 or Higher on Written Exam Braze Practicing time of 10hrs. Passing Score of 80 or Higher on Practical Exam Less than 4 Gas Leaks per Month by QC Braze Cross Training on Level 1 Line Braze Criteria Must meet standard cycle time. Passing Score of 88 or Higher on Practical Exam Brazer I at least six months Braze Cross Training on Level 1 and Level 2 Line Braze Criteria 2 or less Gas Leaks per Month by QC Must meet standard cycle time. Braze Cross Training on Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Line Braze Criteria Brazer II at least one year 1 Gas Leak per Month by QC Evap. Build Must meet standard cycle time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Note: Each function listed below builds off the previous function. Brazer I Brazer II Brazer III Operates all relevant machinery, tools, and equipment and undertakes standard and complex production tasks in accordance with instructions. Determines and selects raw materials and parts required to prepare for the production process. Set ups or adjusts equipment according to manufacturing specifications. Performs "first piece" inspections during the assembly and/or fabrication process to identify quality issues. Ensures that equipment is always operational and performs minor troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment. Monitors production for quality and adjusts machines or processes to correct problems. Ensures operational safety requirements are always met. Utilizes concentration and observational skills, and manual dexterity. Reviews product specifications/blueprints to ensure that assembles and sub-assemblies meet required standards. Monitors quality and makes the appropriate adjustments to correct problems. Works with process improvement teams to suggest new ideas and solve problems. Maintains required level of productivity to ensure that department goals are reached. Maintains a safe work environment and identifies/reports potential hazards to management. Works from production/assembly instructions, parts lists, diagrams, verbal instructions, and notes to assemble a wide variety of components. Monitors the quality of output to identify, discard, or rework faulty products. Provides supervisors and managers with process improvement suggestions. Provides on-the-job training and/or technical assistance to other employees on specific tasks as needed. Rotates workstations as needed for absent team members. Maintains required level of productivity to ensure that department goals are reached. Maintains a safe work environment and identifies/reports potential hazards to management. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Brazer I Brazer II Brazer III High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of progressively difficult assembly/fabrication experience. Requires broad skills with the ability to operate a variety of production machines and equipment. Two years of assembly or operator experience is required. Ability to operate a variety of machine tools and follow instructions. Must be dependable and work well in a team environment. Five years of advantaged manufacturing production experience is required. Solid verbal communication and listening skills. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Brazer I Brazer II Brazer III Requires knowledge of brazing equipment, machinery, and operations Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment. Motivated self-starter Ability to multitask and change priorities at a moment's notice. Manual dexterity and the ability to carry out repetitive tasks quickly and methodically. Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and written work instructions. Mechanical aptitude Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in manufacturing production. Ability to recognize quality problems with materials and work in process. Advanced shop skills and equipment operation knowledge PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS Manufacturing: Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments. Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment Requires standing for prolonged periods of time. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Must be able to walk and use hands. Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively.
