Join our team! Laredo Medical Center's (LMC) Skilled Nursing unit is now hiring a full-time Registered Nurse SNU Admissions Coordinator to work at LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. The department is an 18 bed unit in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. Opportunities to work with the geriatric population as well as rehabilitation for many other post-acute needs including surgical, neurological, cardiac and more. Employees in this units report directly to the Director of Nursing. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Read a full position description below.Position's Purpose and Essential FunctionsResponsible for providing administrative support to the patient admission process. Coordinator demonstrates accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in flexible interdisciplinary fashion. Provides support to clinical staff to include answering calls, maintaining patient records, and communication with other members of the hospital staff, physicians, and/or their relatives courteously.Serves as the contact person for all skilled nursing patient referrals and coordinates the admission process including all required documentation. Strong working relationship with physicians and case managers to timely evaluate patient referrals. Acts as a liaison to provide timely communication on admission screenings and approvals. Work closely with the unit medical director and physicians for timely completion of required documentation on medical records. Maintains patient charts organized with all required documentation in place. Provides support to the clinical staff by answering calls and communicating with other members of the hospital staff, physicians and/or patients and family members. May perform other administrative functions as necessary.When staffing as an RN: Administers nursing care. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. Applicants Job Requirements IncludeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensed as an R.N. by the Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.Required: BLS, within 30 days of hire. Preferred: One (1) year full time or three (3) years part time experience in acute care setting.Letter(s) of Recommendation arepreferred for applicants with less than 1 year of applicable experience in nursing.ACLS, PALS, or NRP (or obtained within six months of employment) in required specialty.Handle with Care (or obtained within six months of employment) in required specialty.Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
