The Veterinary Hospital Supervisor will be an integral member of the team, working with their manager and doctors to provide high quality nursing care and develop the nursing team with the service(s). This role works closely with their manager in a collaborative relationship. Primary job duties include leading and mentoring the daily operations of nursing staff as well as development of the skill and knowledge base of the team. This position acts as a working supervisor, providing oversight while working alongside their team. They will actively participate in the screening and selection of new team members and provide onboarding and training for the staff alongside their manager. They will also provide regular feedback to the nursing staff through performance evaluations and mentoring. This position will supervise the Primary Care & Dentistry Service and the Veterinary Community Outreach Program.Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of veterinary nursing care and techniques. The ideal candidate is an excellent verbal and written communicator, highly self-motivated, and able to prioritize well. The candidate will strive to promote teamwork both internally and externally within all services of the small animal hospital.Example of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Ensure designated tasks are completed in an accurate, professional, and timely mannerEstablish work priorities; schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage while minimizing downtime and overtime, and maintain an efficient workflowResponsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employeesValidate and approve employee timeProvide regular work performance feedback through bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual reviews of staffSchedule, plan, and conduct regular staff meetings with intent to communicate consistent understanding of new ideas, instruct of impending changes in protocols and policies, and foster team discourseUpdate, develop, and utilize training/onboarding materialPromote growth and career development by establishing a culture of educational opportunities among the technician and doctor staffNursing care and client service duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assist with patient evaluations or rechecks by assisting in patient restraint, obtaining and submitting samples, scheduling with other services for diagnostic or consultation purposes, and providing treatment or medicationsPerform general nursing care such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collectionPerforming basic anesthesia and sedation procedures including patient monitoring and recoverySpecialty specific nursing care and dutiesThe services receive Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 8:00am or later than 5:00pm. This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.Salary:
$26-$30, dependent on credentials and experienceMinimum Qualifications:
Associates degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience.Preferred Qualifications:Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferredAnesthesia ExperienceSpecial Instructions to Applicants:
