The City of Mississauga is seeking a Fitness Supervisor who will initiate, develop and supervise a diversified offering of fitness and therapeutic programs to reflect and meet community needs. You will report to the Fitness Manager and work with an experienced team of industry professionals coordinating fitness and therapeutic programs and initiatives across the city. You will also work as part of a facility team, assisting in the general supervision of the building, programs and staff supporting excellent public relations and customer service.Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Fitness, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a diversified fitness program menu to reflect and meet the needs of members and the community including the following:Initiate, design and deliver quality programs that encourage and support healthy, active living for community residents.Lead a diversified part-time staff team which will include exercise counsellors, personal trainers and group exercise instructors along with identifying opportunities for volunteers and student internship placements.Manage and monitor an annual operating budget, maintaining financial accountability and striving to reach established targets.Participate as part of the Fitness and Facility teams to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery and facility utilization and support the fitness line of business.Develop and participate in outreach programs to introduce fitness concepts to the community.Work in cooperation with the Supervisor of Operations and Facility Manager to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.Maintain close working relationships with related staff and departments including customer service, parks, human resources, and standards and training, and community development.Hire, train, schedule and supervise program staff; maintain all required statistics and prepare reports as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills and Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or validated equivalent, with a minimum of three years full-time related experience.Current certification in personal training and/or group exercise through CSEP, CANFIT PRO, CPTN, OFC, ACSM or validated equivalent.Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with program design and delivery, program maintenance software (ActiveNet, Perfect Minds, etc.), customer service, budget management, partnership program delivery and volunteer group dynamics.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work in a changing team environment and also possess an interest in professional development.Must hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification from a qualified certifying provider (St. John’s Ambulance, etc.).Able to support other areas within the facility team.Hourly Rate/Salary: $86,858.00 - $115,812.00Hours of Work: 35Work Location: Various locationsDepartment/Division/Section: CMS/Community Services Dept, CMS/Recreation & Culture Division, Program DeliveryNon-Union/Union: Non UnionWe thank all who apply, however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
