The Optical Manufacturing Director coordinates and facilitates activities of the facility, aiding the Sr. Director of Manufacturing in formulating and administering procedures. Ensures deployment, implementation and sustaining of company strategies to grow facility. Participates in development of long-range strategies and objectives. Reviews analysis activities, operations, forecasting data to determine group progress toward goals and objectives. Responsible for resources and plans utilizing established internal directives, and cultivates experience, knowledge and vision.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and leads the Production and Stockroom teams while assisting the Sr. Director in leading the HR, Quality, Continuous Improvement, EH&S and Maintenance teams.Assists Sr. Director with interpreting and communicating all organizational directives ensuring implementation.Leads with excellence by monitoring the evolution and realizing gaps and trends before they become critical.Leverages delegation and coaching vs. direct management leads projects/activities to completion.Challenges team and ensures accountability for status/actions defined by audits, report checking, data cross checking ensuring each department is using same perimeter and KPI.Sustains improvement and avoids return to previous behaviors.Communicates facility status highlighting trends needing attention or requesting support on issues that cannot be managed internally.Ensures compliance with established guidelines, cost standards by operation and function.Generates reports based on performance and data collected from the manufacturing process.Understands urgency and priority of critical projects and defines proper metrics.Works cross functionally to minimize equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.Oversees establishment, deployment, training and respects work procedures to meet production schedules and standards.Studies production schedules and estimates labor requirements for job completion; oversees loading and line balancing; ensures operational compliance with established production and shipping schedules; maximizes workforce utilization.Drives measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality taking action when deviations occur.Identifies, develops, and participates in CI projects and programs to achieve work simplification, eliminates non-value added activities, and cost reduction.Plans and directs layout of equipment, workflow and assembly methods.Ensures safe work environment and compliance with OSHA standards and other regulations.Maintains knowledge of quality systems, product specifications, vital manufacturing processes, and machinery/equipment; stays abreast of latest developments in operations.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree Business, Engineering, or equivalent.10 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience working in multiple facilities (either concurrently or consecutively).Track record of advancement for self & directs.Six Sigma/LEAN Manufacturing familiarity and experience.Proven ability to motivate staff to ultimate resolution of business problem.Superior oral and written and presentation skills.Proven ability to introduce, cultivate, and implement new ideas and directives.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s in Business or Engineering.
