Siebel-Lewis Endowed Chair in Fisheries Science — University of Montana
The University of Montana is pleased to announce a search to fill the Siebel-Lewis Endowed Chair in Fisheries Science for an Academic Year, tenure track faculty position to begin Fall 2025. This search is open rank; we seek applications at assistant, associate, and full professor levels. We encourage candidates with demonstrated excellence in freshwater fish ecology or conservation. This faculty appointment will be within the Wildlife Biology Program.The Wildlife Biology Program comprises interactive faculty with outstanding records of scholarship and teaching. It ranks as one of the top wildlife and conservation programs in the US and has been recognized as one of three Programs of National Distinction at the University of Montana.The University of Montana embraces diversity as a core value. We particularly welcome applicants who will help us diversify the leadership in our university, college, and program.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:develop and implement a vigorous externally-funded research program focused on the ecology or conservation of freshwater fishes;teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in fisheries science (typically one course per semester);provide high-quality mentoring and training for master’s and doctoral students;advise undergraduate students in the Wildlife Biology program;represent the University of Montana as a leader in regional and national research on the ecology or conservation of freshwater fishes.Required QualificationsThe candidate must:have a Ph.D. in ecology, biology, fisheries science, or related field;have an excellent record of research and scholarship on the ecology or conservation of freshwater fishes (commensurate with career stage), including publications in peer-reviewed journals;be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate or undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds;have experience communicating effectively with students, professionals, and the general public;have a record of working collegially with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders;have demonstrated support and promotion of diversity.Preferred QualificationsPreferred candidates will demonstrateinterest in developing research in the Northern Rockies region;potential for excellence in graduate student mentoring and teaching;a commitment to service within and outside of the university.Application InstructionsPriority Application Date: Sunday, November 17, 2024 by 11:59 PM (Mountain Time).Criminal Background Investigation is required prior to Offer of Employment.
