Weld Lead – 1st Shift - CE Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a
1st Shift Weld Lead
for our CE facility in Salina, KS.
This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
Plan and program sequence of tasks for welding.
Interpret specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
Set up and program welding equipment.
Inspect work to maintain specified standards and quality.
Set up machines or make trial welds to make test runs and experimental products.
Supervise operational schedules and welding activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications. Delegate tasks.
Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Train new workers.
Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Experienced in welding.
Excellent communication skills.
Understand team concepts and be a strong team player.
Excel in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions, and shift priorities as needed.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent time management and manufacturing organizational skills.
Drive culture of Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change to streamline processes.
Familiarity with IBMi and Microsoft programs beneficial.
